University Challenge may be one of the most high-brow shows on the box, but it isn’t averse to throwing its contestants a 90s pop curveball.
And last night, Jeremy Paxman delivered a cheesy music teaser that the whole world – or at least lots of people on Twitter – seemed to know…but not the student brainboxes from Glasgow who were being asked.
The episode saw the Scottish University pit their wits against East London but when it came to hearing a clip of Geri Horner’s 1999 single Look at Me, none of the eight cerebrally gifted students could muster a response.
