Recycled plastic becomes art at Laguna Beach High – Orange County Register

Worried about the depletion of the world’s natural resources, 40 students from Laguna Beach High School’s advanced placement and honors studio art classes decided they wanted to educate their peers about sustainability. The result, “Plastic Ocean,” on display in the school’s library, features works of art made of plastic found on and around the campus.

“We were really concerned about the environmental impacts of plastic and how the ocean is basically becoming a garbage dump for many countries, including ours,” said art department Chairwoman Bridget Beaudry Porter.
