Nightly tree lighting will take place at Irvine Spectrum Center’s Edwards Courtyard every 30 minutes from 5 until 11 p.m.
LED lights on a 50-foot holiday tree will put on a choreographed six-minute light show set to holiday music.

Tanaka Farms will host its annual holiday boutique 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The event includes a Sanrio booth, selling surprise bags, along with appearances by Hello Kitty 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Guests must register online for a free parking pass. Entry to the boutique is free.
Also, participants of Tanaka Farms’ holiday wagon tours will get to visit the new hilltop Sanrio Village featuring Hello Kitty and her friends each weekend until Dec. 17. Pre-registration is required at tanakafarms.com/holiday-tour-sanrio-village.

The Irvine Civic Center will transform into a Winter Wonderland, featuring a 25-foot-tall tree adorned with ornaments and holiday lights, a Joyful Jingles holiday program, children’s activities, train rides and a Santa visit.
At 5 p.m., there will be a tree-lighting that includes “snow” falling over the piazza and gourmet food trucks on site.
The event, 3-7 p.m. at 1 Civic Center Plaza, is free, but guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift suitable for infants or children up to age 12 to support the 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee Holiday Toy Drive.

The Irvine Barclay Theatre will present the Peak Experience Jazz Ensemble: Cool Yule, a septet led by bassist, composer and arranger Mike Peak. These musicians have performed with such artists as Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, BB King, and Frank Sinatra.
