ADAM SHERGOLD: Good Afternoon from Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium as England round off their qualification campaign for the UEFA European Under-21 Championships with a fixture against Bosnia.
The Young Lions, who are coached by Aidy Boothroyd now following Gareth Southgate’s promotion to the top job, secured their place at next summer’s finals in Poland last week when Demarai Gray scored in a 1-0 win away to Kazakhstan.
A crowd of around 5,000 expected this afternoon, and a fair proportion of them are local school kids. The kick-off time had to be pushed forward from 5.45pm when it became clear that Kazakhstan needed to play Norway at the same time under UEFA rules. As a result, the FA reduced ticket prices here to just £1 and they seem to have been rewarded.
As for the team, changes galore from the side that won out in Aktobe last Thursday. Among those worth watching…
